1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing, browsing, or using the CommunityXO platform ("Platform") — including the website at communityxo.com, any mobile applications, APIs, and related services — you ("User", "you", "your") agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not access or use the Platform.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and CommunityXO ("we", "us", "our"), the SaaS platform operated by its founding team from Mumbai, India (CIN: U72900MH2016PTC283539), with its registered office at #501, Rebello Enclave, Subash Nagar, MIDC, Andheri E, Mumbai 400093, India.
2. Definitions
- "Platform" — The CommunityXO multi-community SaaS product, including web apps, mobile apps, APIs, dashboards, and all associated services.
- "Community" — A group created on CommunityXO by a Community Owner for a specific purpose (religious, political, educational, corporate, NGO, professional, etc.).
- "Community Owner" — The person or organisation that creates and administers a Community.
- "Member" — Any registered user who joins one or more Communities.
- "Content" — All text, images, videos, documents, polls, events, listings, and other materials posted or uploaded on the Platform.
- "White-Label Instance" — A fully branded, enterprise deployment of CommunityXO with custom domain and zero CommunityXO branding.
- "Marketplace" — The e-commerce module within a Community for buying/selling products or services.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years of age (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to create an account on CommunityXO. If you are under 18, you must have verifiable parental or guardian consent. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.
Organisations must ensure that their authorised representative accepts these Terms on behalf of the organisation and that the organisation is legally constituted in its jurisdiction.
4. Account Registration & Security
To access most features, you must register using a valid email address or phone number. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information.
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of your login credentials.
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account.
- Immediately notify CommunityXO at hello@communityxo.com if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.
CommunityXO supports authentication via Magic Link, OTP, and social sign-in through Supabase Auth. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is available and recommended.
5. Platform Description
CommunityXO is a global, multi-community platform enabling organisations to build, manage, customise, and monetise vibrant communities. Key capabilities include:
- Multi-Community Membership — One account, unlimited community memberships.
- Community Discovery Marketplace — Browse, search, and join thousands of public communities.
- Full Customisation — Terminology, fields, workflows, roles, themes, and feature toggles per community.
- Communication — Feeds, posts, groups, channels, direct messaging, announcements, and broadcasts.
- Events & Calendar — Physical, virtual, and hybrid events with RSVP, ticketing, and livestream.
- Marketplace & E-Commerce — Product listings, multiple sellers, payments, shipping integration.
- Donations & Fundraising — Campaigns, recurring donations, donor recognition, tax receipts.
- Geofencing — Admin-only location-based notifications with privacy-first design.
- Rewards & Gamification — Points, badges, leaderboards, membership tiers.
- CRM & Tickets — Complaint/suggestion system with Kanban workflow and SLA tracking.
- White-Label Enterprise — Fully branded dedicated instances.
- 20+ Languages — Multi-language, multi-currency, timezone-aware.
6. Community Creation & Rules
Community Owners are responsible for establishing and enforcing their community guidelines, moderation policies, and content standards, provided they do not conflict with these Terms or applicable laws.
- Communities may be public (auto-join), private (approval required), or invite-only.
- Community Owners are responsible for all content, activities, and moderation decisions within their community.
- CommunityXO reserves the right to remove or suspend any community that violates these Terms, applicable laws, or our content policies.
- Hierarchical community structures (national → state → district) share parent policies unless explicitly overridden.
7. User Content & Conduct
7.1 Content Ownership
You retain ownership of all Content you create and post on the Platform. By posting Content, you grant CommunityXO a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, display, reproduce, modify, and distribute your Content solely in connection with operating and improving the Platform.
7.2 Prohibited Content
You must not post or transmit Content that:
- Is illegal, fraudulent, defamatory, threatening, harassing, or discriminatory.
- Contains child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or exploits minors in any way.
- Infringes intellectual property rights of any third party.
- Contains malware, phishing, or spam.
- Promotes violence, terrorism, or self-harm.
- Violates any applicable local, state, national, or international law.
7.3 Moderation
CommunityXO provides tools for content moderation including automated keyword filtering, flagging, admin review queues, and AI-assisted moderation. Community Owners and their appointed moderators are primarily responsible for content moderation within their communities.
8. Intellectual Property
The CommunityXO platform — including its branding, logos, source code, documentation, APIs, UI/UX design, architecture, and all associated intellectual property — is the exclusive property of CommunityXO. "CommunityXO" and its associated logos are trademarks of CommunityXO. No licence or right to use any trademarks is granted without prior written permission.
Open-source components used in the platform are attributed in our Credits & Licenses page and are governed by their respective licences.
9. Marketplace & Payments
CommunityXO provides marketplace infrastructure for communities to facilitate buying and selling. Key terms:
- Payments: Processed through Razorpay, Stripe, or PayU. CommunityXO does not directly handle payment card data.
- Commission: A configurable commission rate (default 15%) applies to marketplace transactions.
- Sellers: Community Owners set seller verification requirements and commission structures.
- Refunds: Refund policies are determined by the Community Owner. CommunityXO facilitates the technical infrastructure for refund processing.
- Shipping: Integration with Shiprocket and other providers. Fulfilment is the responsibility of the seller.
CommunityXO does not act as a buyer, seller, or marketplace operator — it provides the SaaS technology infrastructure.
10. Donations & Fundraising
Communities may enable donation campaigns for causes such as disaster relief, education, health, and community development. Donations may be one-time or recurring, anonymous or named.
- A 2% platform fee applies to donations processed through CommunityXO.
- Tax receipts (80G compliance for India) can be enabled by the Community Owner.
- CommunityXO does not receive, handle, or have access to donation funds directly — funds flow to the Community Owner's configured payment account.
- Donation-related disputes should be directed to the respective Community Owner.
11. Privacy & Data
Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data. Key commitments:
- GDPR and India DPDPA compliance.
- Data residency: India users → India servers; EU users → EU servers; USA users → US servers.
- End-to-end encryption available for messaging.
- Right to access, correct, port, and delete your data.
- Geofencing is privacy-first: user location is never stored; only notification delivery is tracked.
12. Termination & Suspension
CommunityXO may suspend or terminate your account or access to the Platform if you violate these Terms, engage in prohibited conduct, or upon request. You may delete your account at any time through account settings or by contacting hello@communityxo.com.
Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Content you have posted in communities may persist according to the community's retention policies and applicable law.
13. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY.
CommunityXO does not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses. We do not endorse, control, or assume liability for any Content posted by users or Community Owners.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CommunityXO's total aggregate liability for any claims arising from your use of the Platform shall not exceed INR 10,000 (Indian Rupees Ten Thousand) or the amount you paid to CommunityXO in the 12 months preceding the claim, whichever is higher.
CommunityXO shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CommunityXO, its directors, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.
15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
Before initiating formal proceedings, both parties agree to attempt resolution through good-faith negotiation for a period of 30 days.
16. Changes to Terms
CommunityXO reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification or email to registered users at least 15 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
